Privacy Policy
What Specular.Live collects, why, and how long it is kept, for developer accounts and for the people who use apps built with our SDK.
Last updated: October 31, 2026
1. Who we are
Specular.Live runs the realtime voice and chat service described on this website. For developer accounts we are the data controller. For the end users of an application built with our SDK, the developer of that application is the controller and we are its processor.
2. What we collect from developers
- Account details: name, email address, organization name, country and billing currency.
- Usage and billing: API keys you create, voice minutes used per environment, packages bought, invoices and payment references.
- Technical logs: IP address, request times and errors, kept for security and troubleshooting.
- Messages you send us through the contact form.
3. What we process for your app's users
When a user joins a room through your application we process the participant identifier and display name your server sends us, the audio stream while they are connected (never recorded by us), chat messages sent in the room, and connection metadata (time joined and left, IP address of the connection). Voice audio passes through our media servers in real time and is not stored.
4. Why we process it
To run the service you signed up for, to bill prepaid minutes, to keep the platform secure and stable, to answer your requests, and to meet legal obligations. We do not sell personal data and do not use it for advertising.
5. Where and how long
Data is stored on our servers and kept only as long as needed: account data while your account exists and for up to 12 months after; billing records as long as tax law requires; technical logs for up to 90 days; room chat history according to the retention your application configures.
6. Sharing
We share data only with providers we need to run the service (hosting, email delivery, payment verification), each bound by a data-processing agreement, and with authorities when the law requires it.
7. Your rights
You can access, correct, export or delete your account data from the developer control panel, or by asking us through the contact page. If you are an end user of an application built with our SDK, please contact that application's developer first; we will help them fulfil your request.
8. Security
All traffic to our API, websites and media servers is encrypted in transit. API keys are stored hashed. Access to production systems is limited to authorized staff.
9. Changes
We will announce material changes to this policy by email or in the developer control panel before they take effect.
